Comments requested on Hazard Mitigation Plan 2019 update

The Middletown Planning Board is seeking public comment on the town’s draft Hazard Mitigation Plan update. Comments will be received until 4pm, August 30, 2019.  The plan is necessary to comply with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 to minimize the risks involving possible property damage and possible loss of life associated with natural hazards that may occur. The plan focuses on identifying natural hazards, the potential impact of those hazards and lists mitigation projects and strategies.   The plan must be updated and approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency every five years to ensure that it reflects relevant information, enhanced analysis and revised community priorities.  The draft plan is available at and may be reviewed in the Middletown Planning Department, 350 East Main Rd., Middletown, RI, 02842 Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.
